I wrote in my column in the September On the Right Lead about the shortage of volunteers for putting on nearly any kind of event and what we can do about it. One idea was for clubs and organizations to partner up and help each other at their events. This idea came from a situation years ago when I was showing on the APHA state circuit and involved with putting on the shows. I had a good friend, Janie, who showed Appaloosas ... she would ring steward for the Paint shows, and I would ring steward for the Appaloosa shows. Worked perfectly --

I'd like to see that idea extended. If we all took a turn helping at another groups event, it would take the heat of those who would like to both help their club, and show their horse. I know that when I am at a competition, especially with students, I am too busy to do anything else.
